DETAILS: Northern NY, northern VT, northern NH, and northern ME will see snow from this storm system. Northern ME will see the heaviest snowfall accumulations from this system. Northeast VT into northern NH into north/central NH should see accumulations on average 3-7″. The rest of this zone can expect 1-3″ of snowfall with higher amounts in the higher terrain and mountainous areas. This snow map doesn’t include the possibility of seeing wrap around snow showers and accumulations. Higher amounts will be likely for areas that do see wrap around moisture. High winds will also accompany the departure of this system – making for a winter wonderland out there. Mix line should generally be around this area, but could creep up into the southern zone of 1-3″. Some sleet may mix in, even as far north into the Northeast Kingdom, however majority of the sounding remain below 32 degrees F. In the event that the mix line does move northward then precipitation will likely change over in the wake of the mix line moving northward. Mix zone will transition to snow as temperatures plummet in the wake of this system. This should also occur in the northern part of the rain zone. Lighter accumulations can be expected here. Majoirty of southern New England should remain snow/wintry precipitation free from this system with the exception of starting out with some wintry precipitation. Little if any accumulations can be expected.
This forecast is subject to change and we will continue to monitor the situation as it develops across the area. Please check often here at Storm Chaos Weather for the latest on this winter storm.
