MILD THEN COLD/SNOWY

Spring temperatures invade the Northeast… Be sure to have your umbrellas and jackets ready because these temperatures unfortunately are not here to stay…

Cold front will be moving through the region this afternoon bringing in a chance of showers across the Northeast. Once the cold front clears the area colder air will be filtering in behind it. This system is expected to stall off the eastern seaboard and another low pressure system will be able to track along this system. There is the potential for some of southern New England and New England to see some snow, sleet, and freezing rain from this event.

WARM WEATHER

Who wouldn’t enjoy 60 degree weather in southern New England at the end of February? While many locations will fall short of any records, we’ll post todays highs tomorrow on the blog just to give you an idea of what is normal and what we actually saw in the temperature department.

WEEKEND STORM

Saturday looks like the better day, but all in all it’s still going to be nasty – especially during the late afternoon and evening hours. Precipitation from the coastal storm system should impact the area late on Saturday and continue through much of the day on Sunday. Travel may be impacted at local airports and highways, especially areas north and west of New York City. Snow, sleet, and freezing rain will fall across majority of the region – whether you start, end, or have it in the middle most locations will see some sort of wintry precipitation. Areas north and west of New York City up into southern NY state into CT, MA, and southern VT and NH will see the brunt of the storm. Areas further north across northern NY, northern VT, northern NH and ME will be see a near blow. This doesn’t mean precipitation will not fall across these regions. Storm system should pull away by Sunday evening and we could see some residual precipitation on the back end for Sunday night into Monday. Bulk of the precipitation looks to be overnight Saturday into early Sunday afternoon. Precipitation totals will be given at a later time.

Stay tuned for the latest forecast…
