Storm Chaos Weather is following the latest on the winter storm that is expected to impact the Northeast tomorrow. Travel will likely be impacted across the entire Northeast tomorrow as snow, ice, sleet, and heavy rain impact majority of the region.
An area of low pressure will be moving in from the Midwest during the day tomorrow bringing in snow, rain, sleet, and icy conditions across the Northeast. Snow will start from west to east throughout the morning hours on Saturday creating dangerous travel conditions from late morning and during the afternoon hours. The best bet to travel would be early morning on Saturday before the precipitation starts. However, if you have to travel anywhere from Philadelphia northward, you may want to rethink your travel plans – especially if you plan on being on the roads during the afternoon hours.
Conditions will quickly deteoriate as heavy precipitation overspreads the region causing slick roadways to develop. Accumulations will take shape during the afternoon and evening hours and then taper off just before or around midnight. Southern areas of New Jersey and possibly some spots in central New Jersey may mix with sleet and ice, although snow appears to be the main precipitation type.
Thinking anywhere south of Philadelphia will likely be all rain. Mixed precipitation/rain mix will likely take shape from Philadelphia up to around Trenton and along coastal communities. Trenton to about Edison NJ expect accumulations to be 3 to 7″ and areas north of Edison will see 4 to 9″ of snow. Some snow may mix with sleet/ice/freezing rain across Mercer, southern Middlesex and Monmouth counties. Expect a general 3 to 5″ snowfall accumulation across Connecticut up to the Poughkeepsie area and 5 to 9″ of snow across southern New York state.
Stay tuned to the latest!
