Series of clipper systems will impact the region this week…each bringing a surge of cold arctic air with it. Dangerous temperatures and wind chill temperatures may develop by the end of this upcoming week. The models have been signaling for extremely cold temperatures across the region. Please stay tuned for continual coverage on the potential for dangerous cold air to be in place.
For the remainder of today some snow showers and flurries should linger across New England as the area of low pressure that moved through the region yesterday moves away from the region. Some northwest winds on the backside should keep things a bit blustery and also keep the threat of flurries and snow showers across the region. A clipper system moving down from Canada wil bring another round of precipitation to the region late tomorrow into Tuesday. Minor accumulations are expected across southern New England at this time, but New England looks like they will recieve another shot of colder air. Our first round of cold air, almost like a pregame for what is to come, will arrive late Tuesday into Wednesday. Temperatures should top out in the mid to upper 20s across southern New England – including NYC metro area and Philadelphia area. New England should see highs topping out in the single digits to low teens. Low temperatures will be in the teens across southern New England and at or below 0 across New England. Bundle up because it is going to be chilly. Combing these temperatures with the cold wind coming from Canada, you will spell a downright miserable and chilly outdoor experience. Another storm system moves into the region Thursday bringing another round of precipitation. This system will be similar to yesterdays storm system as of right now. Too early to toss around amounts and projections for accumulations and/or precipitation type across the region. The air that follows this system will be the extremely cold air that we have been advertisting at the start of this post. Temperatures will take an arctic plunge late Thursday and continue right through next weekend as a very strong and deep trough moves into the region.
Stay tuned
